EAST TEXAS CHEROKEE - Nine Words in the Corner of the Room (via Zoom)

  • The Bryan Museum (via Zoom) Galveston, TX United States (map)

Every artifact in the Bryan Museum in Galveston, no matter how small, has a story. And those stories can be about some of the most significant events in Texas history. One particular museum artifact, a cryptic message written in the Cherokee alphabet, provides an indication of the cultural and social challenges facing Native Americans in East Texas.

When I scheduled this presentation it was an event when the museum would stay open late, and included a happy hour!. Now, it is a virtual event which means that many others outside of Galveston can attend via Zoom. So it will be BYOB, so sign up and stock up, no need to dress up!

To register for the Zoom event go to https://thebryanmuseum.org/event/after-hours-in-the-museum-3/. Before the meeting you will receive a link via email that will connect you to the presentation. If you have not used Zoom before, it will download when you click the link. Simple to use.
